A “New” Fragment on the Difference between Hypostasis and Enhypostaton against Tritheists

Abstract This article provides edition, translation, and annotation of a Greek excerpt dealing with the christological issue “whether there is an anhypostatos nature.” Until now unedited recently catalogued as one fragments Cyril Alexandria’s Contra Synousiastas , it in fact contains close parallel to famous passage from Leontius Byzantium’s Nestorianos et Eutychianos concerning distinction between hypostasis enhypostaton . It argued that fragment was written aftermath Tritheist controversy and, more specifically, faces doctrines John Philoponus.
